Charro Beans Soup & Carne Asada ( frijoles Charros) will show up together most of the time at an evening outdoor party in the Northeast region of the country where I am from. Refried beans are made with mashed pintos; for charro—a Tex-Mex take on pork and beans—the beans are served whole in a spicy broth. Cooking charro beans with dried spices leaves you with an intensely flavorful broth that's just as delicious as the beans. The only difference is she used chopped hot dogs in place of the ham and hers had a rough-chopped bell pepper (both of which I prefer and use as well).
